New and Must Have Craft Supplies for Cardmakers | New Distress Color Saltwater Taffy and More!


It is my favorite time of the month! Time for a New and Must Have Crafty Supplies video.


In these videos, I peruse the new products section of Simon Says Stamp, but the things that strike my fancy and then share them with you all, so you can see them and decide if they are something you'd like to add to YOUR stash!

This month, I am sharing the new Distress color, Saltwater Taffy. I bought the new color in a Distress Oxide Ink (I also buy the refill for that), Distress Paint and Distress Oxide Spray. I am in love with this new color and how beautifully it pairs with Spun Sugar and Abandoned Coral.


I also bought the new Memory Box Vintage Pastel Mirror pad. This 6x6 pad contains heavy weight cardstock mirror or metallix pieces in shades from pearlescent pastels to beautiful metallic tones.


Speaking of 6x6 pads, I also bought the new Lawn Fawn Gotta Have Gingham Pad. I've never met a Lawn Fawn patterned paper pad I didn't like, plus it is a rainbow of gorgeous ginghams!


Speaking of rainbows, the new My Favorite Things Hip Hip Yay pad has them in spades! It is meant to be a birthday pad, but there are plenty of versatile rainbow sheets as well!


Next up, I grabbed the Lawn Fawn Clear and Sparkle Glaze Pens. Love that they come in a pen format for easy dots, lines and covering stamped images.


Also from Lawn Fawn is the How You Bean? Strawberry Add On stamp set and dies. So cute!


I love "hugs" dies for cardmaking and this font is unlike any I've seen so I was happy to add the Freestyle Hugs die from Poppy Stamps to my collection!


When I saw the Lucy's Little Things My Love Mix I knew I had to have it because it seemed to coordinate perfectly with SaltWater Taffy! Love the mix of sequins, pearls and stars!


Last but not least, I grabbed the Studio Katia Crystal Hearts. These are stunning and I had nothing like them in my extensive shaker goodies/embellishment collection!


Of course I created a few cards using the new supplies! Did I mention I love ink blending with Saltwater TaffyDistress Oxide Ink?


But the combination of Spun Sugar and Saltwater Taffy in Distress Oxide Spray is equally amazing! And check out the pearlescent Memory Box Mirror cardstock in the shadow of the hugs die and how it looks with the blue gingham!!


If the strawberries here look dimensional and shiny, it's because of the Lawn Fawn Clear Glaze!


The My Favorite Things patterned papers layer so nicely together!

New & Must Have Craft Supplies for Cardmakers August 2021


Today I am sharing the latest video in my New and Must Have Craft Supplies for cardmakers series!


I've got stamps, dies and a 3d embossing folder from Altenew, cling mounted On the Ground Stamp from Simon Says Stamp, Mason Jar Box Card Die from iCrafter, tiny enamel stars from Julie Hickey Designs aaaaaaand the latest color from the Tim Holtz for Ranger Distress line, Prize Ribbon!


I love the Vintage Vibes from Altenew and it pairs perfectly with the floors from the Simon Says Stamp On the Ground! The little stars are great embellishments and an embossed mirror is a great finishing touch!


The Mason Jar Box card is so easy to put together and even if floral arrangements are not your thing, 


you can still have so much fun adding them to the mason jar.

You Will LOVE the NEW Tim Holtz Brayers! See Tips & Tricks & Techniques!

Honestly, I didn't know I needed even one brayer. Turns out I needed two. LOL. I keep saying this, but it is 100% true. I watched Tim Holtz go live after these two new brayers were released and all I can say is WOW.  He shared so many fun techniques and ideas on how to use them. When I went to purchase, I knew I would use both, so I bought both and I am so glad that I did, because I was a brayer card making background machine!! LOL
I used them with Distress Oxide Ink, I used them with Distress Paints, I used with with Distress Oxide Sprays and I even used them with alcohol inks. 
The really are the perfect composition to use with all the Distress products and beyond!
Once I started playing I literally could not get enough! But, while having a bunch of backgrounds is great, it is infinitely better to have a bunch of cards. So I used all the backgrounds I created to create a bunch of different cards.

3 Ways to Use Distress Oxide Reinkers

If you have a bunch of these pretty little re-inkers on your shelf, I've got three ways to use them other than just keeping your ink pads juicy.
Let's be honest, ink pads stay juicy for a LONG time! Of course it is great to have reinkers for your favorite colors to make sure you can use them whenever you want to! But it's nice to know there are other uses for them as well!
You can dip a paint brush and then tap on the brush to create colorful splatters. You don't need to buy extra, expensive sprays!
They make great paints too! Since the Oxide formulation allows it to sit on top of the paper, you can even paint with great results on dark or kraft cardstock!
Or use an ink blower, like the kind you use for alcohol inks to create a fun background! This card was inspired by my friend (and fellow Waffle Flower design team member) Channin. You can see Channin's blog here: https://channin.wordpress.com/

How to Fix Layered Stamping Mistakes

Hi everyone! In today's video, I am sharing a way to create layered stamped effects with Distress Oxide inks. Layered stamping with Distress Oxides is my favorite way to do layered stamping because if you don't get the stamps 100% lined up you can add a tiny bit of water to add some watercolored effects and cover your mistakes.
The Distress Oxides add such a pretty, chalky watercolor effect too!
