Wowza Wednesday

Is it really Wednesday already? Where did the last 7 days go? We've been busy as always. Cleaning and preparing for a visit from Nona--yay! Helping Little Miss study and get her homework done. She just got her third quarter report card and seriously, the kid is kicking kindergarten butt. Dealing with appointments--I had an MRI done on my shoulder today to determine the source of some chronic pain I've had for over a year. Add to that play dates, the gym, more spring cleaning and Phew! I can barely keep my eyes open! And I've been creating madly lately to get a bunch of deadlines done--seems like that short month of February really messed with my calendar! So, I dont have lots to share yet, but I'll leave you with this one, which was my final post at the Just Imagine blog.
I cut all the circles with my Kreaxions circle cutter--I still LOVE that thing! 
The Jillibean Soup goodies are a mish mash of a bunch of different lines. I love those little monsters and the yellow background soup staples is one I need LOTS of so I will never run out.
And of course, lots of sewing ;) But I have yet to sew an item of clothing--go figure!
And one item of good news--I had a layout picked up for the August issue of Scrapbook Trends! And neither kid is featured in said layout! Little Miss is still a little disgruntled about the fact that none of her solo layouts have been published lol. I'll just have to keep trying :)

Keep Calm...

Have you seen all the Keep Calm slogans cropping up? You know, all the variations on this:

I guess I've been feeling the need for Keep Calm reminders lately. My sweet boy is sick again. Picked him up from school on friday and he was complaining about his ear. Found out he had a fever when we got home and immediately called the Dr. Of course they couldnt get him in. They called at 5pm and of course they couldnt prescribe over the phone. They recommended waiting until Monday or going to the after hours clinic. I knew his ear was infected and waiting until Monday was not an option. So we called the after hours clinic. Of course they couldnt give us an appointment before 7:30pm. Of course the intersection the clinic is on is a NIGHTMARE and I had to do about 100 u-turns to find the place. Of course we sat in there for an hour waiting to be seen. Of course George of the Jungle Part II was on instead of something entertaining. And of course, turns out he had an infection  in not ONE ear but in BOTH ears. We decided to give him the antibiotic shot since he had already thrown up that day and I was afraid we wouldnt be able to get medicine into him. He is so darn skinny, they had to break the shot into 2 (one for each thigh). Today he refuses to walk. BUT he is feeling much better. He watched a movie and even played and ate. I just want him healthy, especially since his birthday is next weekend. He is such a good little guy. I asked him to sit and take some pictures for me one night last week when he was looking especially cute...

That face literally melts my heart. Do you love his punk rock hair in the first shot? He is still not keen on getting his hair cut. We're going to have to do something before his party lol.
The other one is healthy as an ox. I swear, she brings this stuff home and we all get sick and she is fine. I guess it would be worse if both kids were sick. Speaking of Little Miss she had her Valentine's party at school on Friday. 
I helped her make some special valentines for her class: 


I saw the idea in the last issue of Scrapbooks, Etc. We basically punched scalloped circles out of different colored tissue paper and pushed a lollipop through them. I printed out Happy Valentines on green cardstock and cut out leaves. She wrote Love and her name on 34 leaves! Then we covered a cardboard box in green paper and tissue paper so it looked like all the flowers were growing in a garden.
They were a big hit and she told me, "lots of people complimented me on my Valentines." Her words. LOL.
I don't know if the little guy is going to make it to school on Monday for his Valentine's party, but I hope so because I have an idea for his from the same magazine. If I get them done tomorrow I'll post pics next week.
What else? Hmmmm,
3 Scrappy boys is having a Guest Designer contest this month!! The March kit is going to include LOTS of new CHA goodies. The contest is pretty simple and the GDT requirements are not strenuous, so I hope lots of people will give it a go. All the details are here.
I also have some Upsy Daisy Designs layouts to share. For the month of February we were asked to focus on the colors pink and red. Mine are mainly pink ;) Can you believe that big kid above used to be this little bundle?
I cut a 10" circle with my Kreaxions Circle Cutter, cut 1" wide scallop strips and sewed them behind the edge of the circle to make the ruffle.

I couldnt resist using baby pictures with the sweet pastel pinks in this line.

Catching Up--BIG time.

I honestly do not know where the time goes. Of course there is a lot of driving kids back and forth to school, helping with homework, studying for tests, cooking dinners, trying to get little people to get a good night of sleep.

Then there is watching movies, bouncing in the bouncer, cleaning, more cleaning.

Still, if it is already the MIDDLE of January, we are in for one lightning fast year. And this little stinker called me Mom all day. Not Momma or Mommy, but "Hey Mom..."
Sigh. Oh well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. He is going to be 4 next month after all. Oh, for anyone curious about these painted frames or the polaroids with text I used in my Christmas post, I downloaded both for free from the fabulous Coffeeshop Blog. The BW action I ran on these photos is from the same site.
Ok....in the downtime, I have gotten lots done. Some I can't share yet (some new projects with new Elle's Studio goodies!!!!!!). So here is what I can share:
This one with American Crafts Love Collection:
That big red flower is an American Crafts Details and I entered this into their weekly challenge and I was one of the winners on the American Crafts blog.
This month the Upsy Daisy Design Team focused on their Avalanche line. It is a very winter line filled with snowflakes and winter sports phrases. Here in the Southwest, we don't get a lot of either. So I got creative ;) This first one is actually pictures from over the summer. When it gets unbearably hot, when it is 115 for weeks on end, when it is well over 100 even in the dark of the night, sometimes we stop off at the local skating rink. It just feels so good to be cold for a little while:
The great thing about this line is the B sides are incredibly versatile. The colors are patterns have a cool masculine feel so I thought it was perfect for a layout about my guys:
And this one was made with a bunch of Kreaxions punches and a big butterfly die;

I did this one as a scraplift of layout by Carrie Ferrier for a challenge on For the Luv of Art.

And I couldnt have been more thrilled when Heidi at October Afternoon noticed it at 2peas and posted it on the OA facebook page!

Bye 2010!

I guess now that it is January 5th I really can say goodbye to 2010! I really wanted a year in review post up before the 5th, but with my little guy not sleeping well (read--ME not sleeping at all) and other forces at work (read--ME sleeping in the cold playroom on a hard futon because I saw a mouse) it just wasn't in the cards. Thankfully my boy is feeling better and our house guest has been, ummm, "uninvited." So...without further ado...

Actually I have one further ado...unfortunately I can't post a few of my favorite layouts from this past year but that is because.... this is the first year I have several out for publication!!! I couldn't be more thrilled about it. In fact, I just had another one of my favorite layouts requested by ScrapStreet for publication in March. So we'll have to make do with these runner ups ;)
Not sure that I even had a chance to share this one yet? In any case, the tags and stamp are from Elle's Studio. Did I mention how excited I am to be designing for them??!! Probably, I did lol. I got my first DT package and all the new products are launched. If you are like me...you will want them all!

Here is another one with tons of Elle's Studio goodies. I loved using lots of tags and the small pictures with rounded corners. I don't do monthly recap layouts a lot but this one was so fun, I am thinking I may need to soon.

I won some My Little Shoebox goodies from a Facebook contest with this one.


I won the Echo Park Life is Good collection on a Facebook contest with this one. (I was never a big fan of Facebook until I started getting free goodies lol).


I was thrilled to be "Soup Spotted" several times on the Jillibean Soup blog this year--this was one that was posted.


I got to Guest Design for Scribble Scrabble and this was my favorite project from that spot.


Although I have yet to make an appearance there, some of my layouts made it to CHA this year (designing for Moxxie).


I was beyond thrilled to make the Upsy Daisy Deisgn Team and this layout (based on DT coorindater Kim Sonkenson's sketch) is my fav so far.


I have gotten such a kick out of designing for Just Imagine Crafts (because I am addicted to punches) that I was thrilled when they asked us to stay on a few more months. This is my favorite layout with Kreaxions punches and that cool new big butterfly die.

No accolades here, but this serves as a reminder that this guy needs to be featured more often :)

and how about a few more that just plain make me happy?




And with that, I leave 2010 once and for all. But stop by tomorrow I may have some news ;) AND I am getting close to 200 posts--I feel a giveaway coming :)

Happy Belated Thanksgiving!

I hope all of you who celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday had a wonderful day filled with food, family, friends and fun. We cooked the full turkey dinner and even made a fresh apple pie. Little Miss tried a bit of everything. Little Man ate only a roll and some cranberry sauce. They both did fine on the pie of course. I took NO pictures yesterday. Oh, well.
Speaking of good food, the ScrapTiffany challenge this week was food/recipes.We made caramel apples again this year. Since this is the second year in a row and is now officially a tradition I thought it deserved a layout :)
I adore the woodgrain and little apples from Imaginisce. The little chipboard cup and fork are Maya Road, which I thought were so cute, but hadnt come up for a use for until now.

Another week flies by

Sheesh, at this rate it will be 2011 in a matter of minutes! Another jam packed week in our house--of course. Little Miss was chosen as the Kindergarten's VIP this week,

which as all you moms of school aged kids know, only means more work for ME ;) So we made a poster over the weekend and she brought her favorite book to school on Thursday and today we brought in a treat for the class. We made cookie pops and frosted them with smiley faces--they were a big hit. All our hard work has paid off though because she got to bring home her VIP book today. It includes an interview of her by her classmates and each of them drew her a picture and wrote why she is special---WAY too cute. I have to say I am seriously impressed with her teacher. With all the bad press schools have been getting concerning issues of bullying it is so fabulous to see a teacher trying to teach the opposite action at this early age. Kids learn quickly how to denigrate others and even as adults many people find it easier to criticize others rather than praise them. And if you could see how happy this act of kindness has made her! When I asked her to TRY and sleep in tomorrow, she told me that she would try but it would be hard because she wanted to get up and look at her VIP book :)

To celebrate her a bit more, I finally finished a project I had promised for a while. I altered two magnet boards (that I got in Target's dollar spot) to go with her lavender room. I wanted to give her a place to hang her little drawings without taping them to the walls. I took pictures of the boards before (they were just plain with black ribbon to hang them) but I somehow deleted them!! But this is the finished project:

I also wanted to let you all know that there is an Anniversary Crop going on at 3 Scrappy Boys. We are celebrating Heather Jarret's first full year of ownership of 3SB with challenges, prizes and lots of fun. My challenge is a product challenge, but more specifically a use the packaging from product challenge. Here is the layout I did for it:
The packaging is the Studio Calico yellow woodgrain and brown outline of alphas and it comes from the package of wood veneer alphas.
Here are a few of my favorite things in one tiny corner: Maya Mist, bakers twine, canvas and an October Afternoon button--love, love, love and LOVE.

And last, but certainly not least, the ScrapTiffany challenge this week was to use crepe paper. I had been looking for an excuse to add this to my stash:
It is from My Mind's Eye's Lost and Found collection. The crepe paper with the stitched ribbon is fabulous.

And you'll notice all the bling--yes, I am loving my i rock! (I used it for the magnet board above too because everything should have a little bling, right?) I was thinking of doing a full on review of the i-rock...but for now let's just say I do really like it. They sell it at Michael's and you CAN use a 40% off coupon, which then I think makes it totally worth it.
