Scrapbook Circle's My Favorite and Back to the Grid...

The grid is a design I go back to again and again. It is fast and easy, it is fun to add lots of pictures, and then it allows you to get creative filling the non photo spaces. Also, it is a good way to use up scraps. Finally, it is an easy way to incorporate lots of patterns without overwhelming your photos. Here is my recent grid layout using the Scrapbook Circle May Kit My Favorite:
rk sc bits of us
Probably using 9 different patterned papers would overwhelm a layout if you used too much of each, but here in itty bitty squares they still let the photos do the talking. Once I have all my squares laid out the way I want, the fun begins and I get to play around with what other goodies I want to include, like the Maggie Holmes bow:

rk bits of us cu4
Or bits of the title, or a popped up Lily Bee sticker:

rk bits of us cu1
You can break out of the structure of the grid a bit to include some journaling strips from the Scrapbook Circle printable:
rk bits of us cu3
And frame the whole thing with another piece of the printable stitched to the bottom and some torn washi at the top:

So, do you love a good grid or do you find them too structured? Inquiring minds want to know!

They do wonderful work, quickly, answer any questions and their designs are awesome. Definitely check them out if you are in the market for a new blog design! For an extra fee, they also created a matching watermark for my photos! I love matching ;)

Die Cuts with a View and Therm O Web Blog Hop

Welcome to the DCWV/Therm O Web Summer Lovin’ Blog hop

Today, the design teams from DCWV and Therm O Web have brought together all the things we love about summer! The designers are have combined paper from DCWV’s Sunday Afternoon and Everlasting \Love stacks, together with a variety of adhesives, mists and other fantastic products from Therm O Web!

If you have come here from Rita's Blog then you're on track! If not, you should go back to the DCWV blog and start today’s leg of the hop from there!

I had the pleasure of creating with the DCWV stack Sunday Afternoon. I made a gift for my daughter for the last day of 2nd grade -- a dressed up cork board and matching card.rk tow 4
Start with a cork board and adhere patterned paper to the cork with any Therm O Web glue runner. To adhere the large bow to the frame use Therm O Web Jumbo Zots. To easily adhere the strip of ribbon or trim use Therm O Web Sticky Lines.
rk tow 6
Then use a small Therm O Web Zots to adhere the small bow. To make unique tacks, you need Small Therm O Web Zots, buttons, tacks and twine.
rk tow 8
Tie twine through the button holes and then place on a small Zots.

rk tow 7
Pull off the button with the attached Zots and stick to the tacks.
rk tow 2
Finally, use the same DCWV stack to make a coordinating card. To make a 3d element use 3D Zots to pop up the sentiment.
rk tow 11
Turn the element over, stick several 3D Zots down and adhere to card.
rk tow 10
One of the great things about 3D Zots is they are clear so you can't see them sticking out from behind your popped up element!
rk tow 9

Be sure to visit all the blogs today, and leave comments for your chance to win!  Two lucky readers will win a set of 3 stacks from DCWV, and an additional reader will receive an amazing gift pack from Therm O Web!   The more you comment, the more chances you have to win!

Now, head on over to Dayna Sabrina's blog to see what kind of spring craftiness she has in store!

I ADORE Scrapbook Circle's May Kit My Favorite! A mix of Maggie Holmes, Elle's Studio, Fancy Pants Trendsetter and more...

I have been having fun with this versatile kit:

Love those little stars from Jenni Bowlin!

The butterflies were punched from a sheet of Maggie Holmes washi tape paper. LOVE that stuff!

And the corrugated Jillibean Soup people? I was so excited to have one for each family member!

Simple Stories Extras

If you are a traditional scrapper who doesnt want to make cards or mini albums, that's ok! But you can still use all the goodies made for cardmakers and mini albums. I like to find uses for 6x6 paper pads, stamps and book pages on layouts.
Rk enjoy the everyday
I used the die cut Snap page for a photo matte.  You can even use the punched holes in the page to tie some twine.
Rk enjoy the everyday cu4
Then I cut up the little bingo cards from the 6x6 paper pad.
Rk enjoy the everyday cu3
And the stamps were perfect for journaling.

Have you been having fun with all the Simple Stories extras? Have you found creative uses for them? I would love to hear!
