Simple Stories and Kerri Bradford Studio Team Up

Hi Simple Stories and Kerri Bradford fans! Rebecca Keppel here to combine Kerri Bradford Studio's fabulous digital cut files with my current favorite Simple Stories collection Good Day Sunshine. The combination is absolutely addicting and I am willing to bet my next bunch of layouts will include the same! I started with Kerri Bradford's Enjoy the Sunshine cut and the Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine Basics to cut out a large sun.

The sun comes in two pieces and I love seeing the white background cardstock in between. I machine stitched around both to add texture. Next I cut out the "Enjoy" part of the file. The word comes in two parts, so I cut the Joy out with Simple Stories Blue Skies cardstock and the "EN" was cut with the Basics Beach Wood. I added the chipboard beach ball to the center of the "o" because it fit there perfectly ;)
I cut the last part of Enjoy the Sunshine with Simple Stories Carefree patterned paper. By turning the paper 90 degrees and cutting, I was able to see the entire rainbow of colors in the two words "the sunshine."

Last, but not least, I also used the Have a Great Summer cut. I removed everything besides the glasses and cut the frames from the Teal Basics and the lenses from the Beach Wood Basics.
This was my first opportunity to use Kerri Bradford Studio's digital cuts, but it will definitely NOT be the last! The KBS website is easy to navigate, the files are a breeze to download and use and they work so well with Simple Stories designs!

Get Inky with Scrapbook Circle Add On Take Note

I loved the summery, bright and fun June Scrapbook Circle kit Hello There. I just had to have the Add On Take Note too. There is an item in the add on that is so bold and fun, I think I used it in almost all my projects this month. The Heidi Swapp Color Magic Water Color Heart tags. Water color is such a fun, trendy look right now and these tags make it easy to achieve with minimal effort. You do not have to use water colors on them to achieve that look though. Check out this layout where I used the heart tag. The hearts are large and can be real show stoppers if you color them up.

rk sc set them free
To color my tag I pulled together my supplies, which include the tags, some Tim Holtz Distress inks and a Tim Holtz blending tool. You could use any inks you have and a make up applicator too!

IMG_5148

Start with the lightest color in the palette you choose and go around the shape softly covering the entire tag with a base color.

IMG_5149

There can be some minor spots that aren't completely filled in because next you are going to choose a medium color and go over the tag again. If you use a light hand and focus on the outside you will start to achieve a layered effect.

IMG_5150
Finally choose your darkest or brightest complementary color and ink again.

IMG_5151

Check out that water color look and not a water color in sight!

IMG_5147

The other techniques I employed in this layout were embossing the vellum.

IMG_5142

And using the tiny glassine bag that house the wood veneer right on the layout.

Have you used the water color tags in your projects? How did you alter them?

Therm O Web Zots - Making a Simple Stories Layout from Start to Finish

Sometimes projects require an arsenal of adhesives to complete, but occasionally you can complete a papercrafting project from start to finish with just one type of adhesive. Therm O Web Zots come in handy for a variety of purposes and on this layout I adhered EVERYTHING with Zots and Zots alone!

TOW ZOTS-14

To adhere colored patterned paper behind the die cut title use medium Zots in all the spaces not cut out.

TOW Zots-1

To make sure chipboard stickers stay put place them sticky side down on a small Zots. Since the Zots are on a roll of waxy paper the sticker comes off easily with the Zots in place.

TOW Zots-2

Die cuts are also easily adhered with Zots.

TOW Zots-3

You can choose the size of Zots depending on the size of die cuts you are using.

TOW Zots-11

Instasquares can be adhered with 2 Zots. Place them on diagonal corners for maximum staying power.

TOW Zots-4

It is also fun to add some dimension to die cuts. Use 3D Zots for that.

TOW Zots-5

I like to use 3D Zots in three places on my layouts to create a visual triangle out of simensional objects.

TOW Zots-9

My favorite tip for using Zots in layouts is to use them to adhere brads. Remove the brad wings by bending them back and forth.TOW Zots-8

Then place Zots behind the smaller brads and adhere to your project. The nice thing about doing brads this way is you don't have to create a hole and you can place the brads anywhere even on a die cut which is already popped up on a 3D Zots.

TOW Zots-10

For larger brads where the back has a deeper concave shape, TOW Zots-6

use 3D Zots to fill the entire back and adhere to the layout.

TOW Zots-12

I hope you can see how many purposes Therm O Web Zots can fill in your papercrating and that it is possible to make a layout from start to finish with Therm O Web Zots alone!

Supplies:

Therm O Web Zots (small, Medium and 3D)

Simple Stories (patterned paper, die cuts, stickers, brads and chipboard)

Scrapbook Circle Mood Board Inspiration

The Scrapbook Circle design team has decided that the Mood Boards are actually more like wish lists! Don't you just want everything from this Mood Board?

Seriously, I love it all. Here is the layout I came up with using it as inspiration. I worked with the Scrapbook Circle June Kit Hello There and Add On Take Note.

rk sc love this

The patterned paper features hanging bulbs just like the hanging lights!

I used 3 wood triangles to mimic the look of the necklace. I cut out brush lettering in the word awesome for the brush letters "XO."  The clustered flowers are represented by the Chic Tags rub ons and Basic Gray acrylic flowers. The bright orange flower led me to ink up the happy heart.

rk love this cu1

The Simple Stories burlap heart represents the pillow and obviously I used die cut feathers for the feathers. And now I think I need to do some shopping!

Scrapbook Circle Hashtag Challenge

This month the Scrapbook Circle challenge is to use hashtags. I kind of love them. So I decided to use them as a design element on this layout using the main kit Hello There and add on Take Note.
I die cut a bunch of hashtags with several of the patterned papers and sewed them on top and bottom of the layout.
And those cool hashtag stamps that I stamped on the Chic Tags stickers?

Those are exclusives in the Scrapbook Circle main kit!

If you would like to take part in the hashtag challenge, here is all the info...

1. Create a layout incorporating hashtags. We would love to see a Scrapbook Circle kit in action, but any materials will do.
2.  Post your layout to your blog, our Facebook page, or an online gallery. Come back to this post and leave a direct link to your layout in the comments.
3. You have two weeks to play! Enter by Wednesday, June 18th, 9:00 p.m. Pacific to be eligible for…
