Playing Catch Up

Yowsa, this week is literally flying by and I can barely keep up.

Monday was the new ScrapTiffany challenge. The challenge was to use the lyrics from Rascal Flatt's My Wish. Here is my take on the challenge:

Be sure to head on over to ScrapTiffany to see all the different takes on the challenge. If you take the challenge be sure to email it to Tiffany for a chance to be the guest designer for the month of November.

I also have a layout up on the Sassafras blog--so fun :) Check it out HERE.

Other than that, the past few days have been debacle- filled. There was the trip to the pumpkin patch without the camera memory card debacle. There was the drive all over town trying to get flu shots debacle. And to top it all off, the weather has been nutty. Monday was in the 90s. Today was in the 70's and it is supposed to be in the 40's tonight. We went from tank tops and shorts to footy pajamas literally overnight. I am not sure what the what the weather on Halloween is going to be like. Of course after several years of getting the kids costumes that were too hot, I finally got on the ball and picked out thin and sleeveless stuff and now they are going to freeze lol! Just figures.

Here are a couple of shots of the pitch dark pumpkin patch (by the time we drove all the home and back again with the memory card, the sun had set and I could barely get any shots) and the afternoon they painted and glitter glued the pumpkins.

Finally, I am working with the November Color Me Daisy kit and let me tell you I LOVE it. As soon as I can share, I will.

Hope your week is debacle-less.

Color Me Thrilled Thursday

I have some super exciting, big news. I was selected to be on the Design Team for Color Me Daisy! With so many forums closing and kit clubs going out of business I was looking for a place to call my scrappy home. The Color Me Daisy forum is fun and welcoming, Michelle's kits are gorgeous and the rest of the Design team is fantastically talented. I am thrilled to be a part of it all. You can see the team announcement on their BLOG and go check out the FORUM and the GALLERY. Right now they are holding the Fall into Fall challenges each day and there is a daily drawing for prizes. Check out the challenges HERE. Yesterday I was able to complete challenge 8 which was to make a LO about your Five Favorites right now. Here is my LO:

I am so excited to be a part of this team and from what I've already heard, they have lots of fun things planned. I can't wait to get started!

Just Another Manic Monday

The day really gets away from me on Monday. I mean it's already almost 2pm and what have I gotten done? And it is 102 degrees. Ugh. So I am dragging. Buuuut....

The new ScrapTiffany challenge is up. This week's challenge is to scrap a Fall or Halloween related layout. I chose fall because I had the new Basic Grey Indian Summer papers. I scrapped our trip to the patch last year because ~Ahem~ we haven't been to the patch yet this year, it has just been too darn hot.

Be sure to head over and check out the other Fall/Halloween projects. And remember if you participate email your project to Tiffany for a chance to be the GDT for November.

I also have a new layout posted at the Posh Designs Scrapbook Store blog. It is this Sassafras layout and gives some ideas for using their amazing die cut edges.

I hope to be back tomorrow with some new photos and projects, but since this day is zipping by, I am not going to make any promises. I guess I can't complain when a Monday goes by quickly! Hope you are having a great start to your week :)

Coordinates Collections Fall Cyber Crop

I got NOTHING done yesterday. Seriously nothing. I became catatonic around 1:30pm and didnt rise again until 4:30pm! I dont know if I am fighting something off or what, but it felt so good to sleep. The only thing about napping like that is that all of sudden the day is over and nothing has been accomplished. So I needed to overcompensate today. I participated in Coordinates Collections Fall Cyber Crop. There were six challenges and I completed them all today! Each challenge is in some way based on books.

The first challenge was to use a quote from a book. I used a quote from Dr. Seuss' Oh, the Places You'll Go!.

The second challenge was to use this cover:

as inspiration for a layout.

The third challenge was to do a Romance based layout.

The fourth challenge was a book report style. It required you to use one photo, one piece of cardstock, one piece of patterned paper, and buttons, brads and/or eyelets.

The fifth challenge was to journal at least 100 words.

The sixth challenge was to scrap a series of photos.

Then there was a bonus challenge to use one of the above to make a card. I used the cover inspiration and made this card:

Phew! So that's it for today, but be sure to check back tomorrow for the latest ScrapTiffany challenge.

Loads to Share

Well, I havent been the worst blogger, but I definitely havent been the best either. So now I have tons to share. Lots of projects and a bunch of photos too. Just a warning--this post is very photo heavy.

For starters, Scott had a few days off last week and one of those days Little Miss had school. So for the first time in his 2 1/2 years of existence, Little Man had both parents take him out for a morning of fun. We went to the mall and he played for a bit in the splash pad. Then we visited the puppy store.

And then we took him out to lunch at Paradise Cafe where he enjoyed his favorite Macaroni and Cheese and chocolate chip cookie for dessert. I on the other hand had the 1/2 sandwich and salad and passed my cookie to someone whose hips could handle it.

We were sitting just next to the windows and door and the lighting was pretty incredible so I got a few fun pics.

That night, we brought out our yard decorations. Little Man calls this the pumpkin patch (we wont be going to the real patch until next weekend because it is supposed to be in the 100's this weekend). Little Miss keeps asking when we are going to bring out the lights (ummm, not until Christmas lol!).

And finally, I have been busy with projects too. Thanks to my Mom who totally saved me by agreeing to sew Little Miss's Halloween costume, I have had time to do what I enjoy doing! I have been participating in the Color Me Daisy Fall into Fall daily challenges. This was a challenge to use fringe on a card:

And this was a challenge to use fall colors on a non-fall layout:

And finally a challenge to do a layout about someone's nickname:

Also, like I mentioned in an earlier post, I have been making cards for the Cards for Kate drive. Well the drive was expanded to include another child, Eric who was diagnosed with ALD and I made a card for him too:

Well, I think that is all I have for now. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Check back on Monday for the next ScrapTiffany challenge.

ScrapTiffany Fabric Challenge

I have no idea what happened to Monday. But I am glad it is behind us :) Tiffany was able to get internet access even though she is on a scrapbooking cruise and posted this week's challenge which is to use fabric on a layout. When I was little I had a pink ballerina blanket that I loved and passed down to Little Miss. It was starting to fray and get some holes so I trimmed it and re-hemmed it. Of course the extra piece had to be scrapbooked! Here is my layout:

Make sure you head over to ScrapTiffany and check out all the fun fabric uses on the other designers' layouts. And if you take the challenge be sure to email it to Tiffany for a chance to be the Guest Designer for the month of November.

More tomorrow, but for now I am wiped out. Good night!

Misery Loves Monday

It's really not that bad. As far as Monday's go this one could have been a lot worse. The only real frustration today is that Little Miss woke up AGAIN last night worrying about when Scott was going to work (a new and utterly annoying concern of hers) and now she has refused to nap at all, so I know we are in for a LONG night ahead. Sigh. Dude, I wish someone would beg me to nap.

Well, the new ScrapTiffany challenge is up and it is a super fun one. The challenge is to use homemade flowers on your layout. I'm not a big handmade embellishment person so I love being challenged to try something different. I made 2 types of flowers. The first were simple layered punched flowers. I punched patterned paper and cardstock with 2 different punches. Since the punches were made by different companies they were slightly different sizes and shapes and actually layered quire well. I added some buttons for flower centers. The second flowers I made were tulle roses. These are super easy and look like they take more skill and time than they do! I simple fold a piece of Bazzill tulle length wise in half then roll around my finger and finally staple at the bottom. After attaching to the layout I simply hide the bottoms under ribbon. Go on over and check out the challenge and the other designers ingenious handmade flowers. Take the challenge and email it to Tiffany at Tiffany@ScrapTiffany.com for a chance to be the Guest Designer for the month of November.

As the Guest Designer for Coordinates Collections this month, I completed a fourth layout. This was a seriously amazing kit with enough goodies to make 4 layouts and 1 card. You can see the creations I have already posted below in the last post. Here is my new one:

Obviously the hardest part of Monday is knowing you have a full week before enjoying another weekend. This past weekend was so nice. The weather is finally taking a turn for the better. Sunday morning it was cooler outside than in the house so we ate breakfast on the outdoor patio. The kids loved it -- especially the fact that we were eating outside in our jammies.
And we love demanding that they get some of their energy out in the backyard as a prerequisite to re-entering the house LOL! One of their old favorite activities that they are enjoying again is "cleaning" the river rocks that border the pool in their water table. Not really sure if rocks get clean, but hey, it is something they can do peacefully together for a long time so I am all for it. Have a great week!

Happy World Card Making Day!!

I am so thrilled to announce that I am this month's Guest Designer for Coordinates Collections. I received the Enchanted Kit to work with and had a blast. The fall themed patterned papers from Basic Grey and Bo Bunny combine effortlessly with the pink and rust cardstock as well as with the gorgeous Maya Road pins and trim. The kit is jam packed with goodies and I was easily able to make 4 12x12 layouts and one 4x6 card with some left over! Go on over to Coordinates Collections and check out the October galleries to see what the Design Team and the members are creating with this gorgeous kit, then head on over to the store and order your own--you won't be disappointed!

Everything from these projects is from the kit (except for the small brown Basic Grey letters and some Stickles and Pearl paint from my stash).

Also, did you know that today is World Card Making Day? The fun folks over at Jillibean Soup are doing a giveaway. So here are a couple of Jillibean cards to get myself entered into the drawing.

Today is also the Bazzill Warehouse sale. It is pretty cool to live 20 minutes from the gigantic warehouse and to be able to browse their overstock cardstock and other items. The paper is sold by the pizza box rather than by the piece. It is a great deal and the sale draws people from all over. I got there just a few minutes before 7am when they opened and got in with the second group of shoppers. Lots of fun!

Finally, many of you scrapbookers who visit blogs often probably already know this story, but for those who have not heard yet... There is a card drive going on (sponsored by Jennifer McGuire and friends) for a 5 year old girl named Kate who was diagnosed with an aggresive brain tumor this summer. For those interested in reading Kate's story and updates on her progress you can go HERE. If you are interested in sending cards, go HERE for all the information. My heart seriously aches for this little girl and her family. I don't have tons of money to donate, but I can certainly make a few cards. I hope that the 100's of cards being sent will at least bring a smile to Kate and her family's faces and remind them there are so many people out there sending them good thoughts for Kate's recovery.
