October Afternoon Mix it Up Challenge

One of my absolute favorite paper companies, October Afternoon is having a little challenge to use at least 2 different lines on a project. I created this layout with papers from the Detours, Daydream and Hometown lines:

GCD Studios

I recently discovered a scrapbook company called GCD Studios. I am not sure why I had not seen them before this past trade show, but I am so glad I finally fell upon their products. Michael's now sells their papers by the sheet and several of their collections in a pack that include letter stickers and a sheet of die cut tags.

The first thing I noticed about the paper was the texture and thickness. It feels more like linen than paper. It was begging to be sewed upon ;) Then I noticed the shimmery quality many of the papers have as well. Leave it say, I have never seen a paper pack with such top quality papers. The designs range from gorgeous to sweet.

Here are a few layouts I made (all the of the papers in these layouts are GCD Studios).

American Crafts Thickers Challenge

So, the challenge was to make a LO with at least 3 different types of Thickers. Since I have enough to open my open Thickers shop I thought I would give it a whirl ;)  I used American Crafts papers as well as SIX different Thickers (Puffy Chit Chat Accents in White, Puffy Chit Chat letters in Grapefruit, Glitter Tiara in Taffy, Rockabye Foam in White, Prancer Chipboard in green, and Rootbeer Float Vinyl in Green). Here is my take:

First Manual Photo!

After owning my camera for about 5 years I finally learned how to take a picture manually (without the auto exposure modes on). It was one of my new years resolutions. Now I can put off all that diet and exercise and bask in the glory of ONE completed resolution.

Create My Keepsake March Challenge

The CMK March challenge was to create an 8.5 x 11 landscape LO with at least 2 pictures. The catch was that you had to create your own background something more than cardstock and patterned paper.

I used a transparency which I swiped with blue ink. I then drew waves with stickles glitter, added some pearl paints dots and glued on some beads. I also punched a ribbon border and threaded ribbon through and machine stitched my photo strip and patterned paper to the transparency.

This was a great challenge for me because I rarely get "creative" (read messy) with my backgrounds so it was lots of fun. And without further ado....

Overdue

Just like my library book this weekend, this post is long overdue. Ugh.

I am feeling pretty tired tonight although no real reason why. We did have a nice enough weekend. Went to the gym--twice! Ordered out last night and left some leftovers for tonight. And the weather can't be beat. Yup, we are wearing summer clothes and playing in water and sandboxes.

And before you start to curse my name (as you are currently buried in snow), just remember how you'll be laughing your butt off when I tell you that we have had 30+ days of 115 degree heat in a few months.
