Scrapbook Circle - Circle Round Up

If you love recipe challenges and Venn Diagrams then the latest addition to the Scrapbook Circle blog series Circle Round Up is for you. Here is the Circle Round Up for this month.

circle round up
Basically, you challenge yourself to use something from the Scrapbook Circle kits to represent each circle in the Venn Diagram. Also the larger the circle, the more dominant on your layout that element should be. Here is my take on this month's Circle Round Up.

rk sc some like it hot

This month I not only had the main Scrapbook Circle kit Our Adventure, but also the add on Happy Day to AND add on Away We Go to work with.  The largest circle calls for a yellow base paper which I used. The second largest green circle calls for colorful accents. I used two of the suggestions from here (Pink Paislee label sticker and Allison Kreft alphabet stickers).
For the third largest gray circle, I used the Elle's Studio transparent tags. And finally for the smallest brown circle I used a few American Crafts Thickers and Studio Calico stars.

How have you combined this month's kit and add ons?

Simple Stories and Kerri Bradford Studio Team Up

Hi Simple Stories and Kerri Bradford fans! Rebecca Keppel here to combine Kerri Bradford Studio's fabulous digital cut files with my current favorite Simple Stories collection Good Day Sunshine. The combination is absolutely addicting and I am willing to bet my next bunch of layouts will include the same! I started with Kerri Bradford's Enjoy the Sunshine cut and the Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine Basics to cut out a large sun.

The sun comes in two pieces and I love seeing the white background cardstock in between. I machine stitched around both to add texture. Next I cut out the "Enjoy" part of the file. The word comes in two parts, so I cut the Joy out with Simple Stories Blue Skies cardstock and the "EN" was cut with the Basics Beach Wood. I added the chipboard beach ball to the center of the "o" because it fit there perfectly ;)
I cut the last part of Enjoy the Sunshine with Simple Stories Carefree patterned paper. By turning the paper 90 degrees and cutting, I was able to see the entire rainbow of colors in the two words "the sunshine."

Last, but not least, I also used the Have a Great Summer cut. I removed everything besides the glasses and cut the frames from the Teal Basics and the lenses from the Beach Wood Basics.
This was my first opportunity to use Kerri Bradford Studio's digital cuts, but it will definitely NOT be the last! The KBS website is easy to navigate, the files are a breeze to download and use and they work so well with Simple Stories designs!

Get Inky with Scrapbook Circle Add On Take Note

I loved the summery, bright and fun June Scrapbook Circle kit Hello There. I just had to have the Add On Take Note too. There is an item in the add on that is so bold and fun, I think I used it in almost all my projects this month. The Heidi Swapp Color Magic Water Color Heart tags. Water color is such a fun, trendy look right now and these tags make it easy to achieve with minimal effort. You do not have to use water colors on them to achieve that look though. Check out this layout where I used the heart tag. The hearts are large and can be real show stoppers if you color them up.

To color my tag I pulled together my supplies, which include the tags, some Tim Holtz Distress inks and a Tim Holtz blending tool. You could use any inks you have and a make up applicator too!

Start with the lightest color in the palette you choose and go around the shape softly covering the entire tag with a base color.

There can be some minor spots that aren't completely filled in because next you are going to choose a medium color and go over the tag again. If you use a light hand and focus on the outside you will start to achieve a layered effect.

Finally choose your darkest or brightest complementary color and ink again.

Check out that water color look and not a water color in sight!

The other techniques I employed in this layout were embossing the vellum.

And using the tiny glassine bag that house the wood veneer right on the layout.

Have you used the water color tags in your projects? How did you alter them?
