September Guest Designer

I am up on the Core'dinations blog with my last September Guest Design layout. But don't worry, I'll be back again for 2 more months of Core projects! AND then some around here anyway! I ♥ using Core! This last September layout was a lot of fun because it was a bit of work. I am normally pretty simple in my scrapping but this was kind of technique-y (for me anyway!).
I started with a piece of Core'dinations cardstock and cut 4 fish out with my Cameo in a jumping arc. I took the cut out fish and embossed them with my Cuttlebug. I lightly sanded the embossed fish. Next I swiped Tim Holtz embossing ink over them and poured thick UTEE on top. I heat embossed that and once cooled and dried, I popped those worked over fish up with Therm O Web 3D Zots:
It kind of gives them a scaly and wet look, dontcha think? I used the Cameo cut out fish eyes as bubbles. Simply sanded and glued down for a tone on tone look:
The patterned paper and stickers are by Echo Park. Some Thickers by American Crafts and mini alphas from Jillibean Soup. And 2 of my favorite pics of the kids in the pool. I think our swim season is over :( It is still hot during the day but at night it cools down enough that the pool is a bit too chilly. Oh well, there's always next year! Have a great weekend.

Scrapbook Circle Talk of the Town

It is almost time to say goodbye to Scrapbook Circle's sold out September kit Talk of the Town. You know what that means, right? If you didnt get Talk of the Town, you may want to sign up as a subscriber so you are sure to get October's kit. I dont have any peeks for you yet, but from what I have heard it is going to be as phenomenal as Talk of the Town. Sorry to enable ;) Anyways, I am getting ahead of myself. Today I am on the Scrapbook Circle blog talking about turning one dimensional die cuts into 3D embellishments. Go check it out HERE. This is the layout I am talking about:
I also got a chance to play with Diana Fisher's fabulous September sketch and came up with this:
Watch the Scrapbook Circle blog for Diana's next challenge. They are always fun! And finally, I made this one with the little bits I had left over ;)
I think I do a Red Robin layout once a year lol. But seriously the kids love it.
Alright, I will keep you posted on any peeks of the Scrapbook Circle October kit!

Simple Stories for Halloween?

I am up on the Simple Stories blog today talking about using non-themed collections for a very theme-oriented layout. I made this Halloween layout:
I cut the big and little pumpkins using my Cameo and then stitched around them to look sort of like applique. I popped up the little pumpkins on Therm O Web 3D Zots to make the title stand out:
All the other information is on the Simple Stories blog. If you havent had time to browse through there lately, I would highly recommend it, the team has been sharing so many amazing projects!
Have a great day!

Wishing for Fall

It is really hard to get excited about the fact that it is now officially Fall since around here we are still seeing temps well above 100. Sigh. But I am so excited. I love everything about Fall. When the weather finally starts getting crisp, the apples are in season, the pumpkin patch, Halloween, just everything! Thanks to Scrapbook.com I was able to get Lily Bee's latest Autumn Spice. I LOOOOOVE the colors and patterns and made this layout:
I inked the edges of some hand cut hexagons and stamped the chevron pattern from the Lily Bee Persnickety stamp set on some Studio Calico wood veneer. I took the little triangles I trimmed off th squares when I made the hexagons and put them together for funny looking little bows...
I took the little train
and a fun border at the bottom.
Here's a the start of Fall!

Core'dinations Guest Designer

Have I mentioned I am guest designing over at Core'dinations this month?? LOL I know, I know, I've probably mentioned it a few 100 times ;) I LOVE Core'dinations and it was such a blast to do lots of fun things with it. For this layout, I didn't do any crazy techniques. And I used the Core'dinations Pink Paislee Pre-Embossed Core Impressions. LOVE that you don't have to do the embossing all the time! I specifically used a pre embossed design because I was looking for border strips and I do not have and long embossing plates. SO instead I fussy cut around some of the Core Impressions to give the same look:
I added some My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing Tangerine--isn't it so cool when you find color matches from different companies and collections? I used a few Therm O Web 3 D Zots (my favorite) to pop up the sun:
The only thing I did to the cardstock was lightly sand it. I used a Core'dinations Sand It Gadget and then wiped up my mess with a Core'dinations Dust Buddy. I seriously love both those tools! Did you know you can do all the normal things with Core'dinations that you do with any other cardstock. Like print on it? I printed my journaling strips on an unembossed portion of the Core Impressions:
Isn't it so sad when your little ones start caring what other people think? Just makes me want to act crazier. So the last time we were at the park even I got on the swings ;) Just keep swinging friends!

Imaginisce Product Spotlight And Core Guest Designer

Today I am home with a sick boy :( Only 5 weeks into the school year and already home with a fever. But I had to share a few things today. My Snag 'em Stamps Imaginisce layout is up on the Imaginisce blog today:
I stamped each of the monster mash stamps on white cardstock, colored them in with Spica and Copic markers, popped them up with Therm O Web 3D Adhesive Zots, and gave them a coating of Glossy Accents to give them an epoxy look:
I am also super excited to share one of my Core'dinations Guest Designer layouts that was up on the Core'dinations blog yesterday:
I used Core'dinations Vintage Cardstock for the sun (distressed with the Imaginisce d-stresser and torn Jenni Bowlin Core Impressions. I added the fabulous Echo Park For the Record 2 Documented. I love this new line! You can pick it up at Scrapbook.com HERE.

More Talk of the Town

I feel bad sharing all the Scrapbook Circle goodness from Talk of the Town since it is sold out, but it is just such an awesome kit. I was up on the Scrapbook Circle blog the other day sharing this mixed font layout:
I LOVE that Bella Blvd alpha sticker sheet with 4 different fonts!
And today I was featured for using the Maya Road linen heart in this one:

I cut the huge speech bubble with my Cameo, splattered some Studio Calico mist and sprayed the heart with Therm O Web Glitter Dust. You can see how I adhered the heart on the Therm O Web blog.
Have a great night!

Scrapbook Circle Talk of the Town

So this kit (Talk of the Town) is AMAZING. Tons of American Crafts Amy Tangerine's new line, Lily Bee's new Persnickety, Studio Calico, Elle's Studio... and on and on... I wish I could tell you to run over and get it ASAP, but it is ALREADY sold out! So is the add on! I played with both the main kit and add on this month and sigh...it speaks to me. :) Anyway, my first layout is up on the Scrapbook Circle blog today where I wax poetic about the cycle of love and hate for stickers. Right now, I LOVE them and there are some really good ones in Talk of the Town.
I realized that the cool Bella Blvd alphas fit so nicely on the Studio Calico hexagons. Serendipity, no?
Anyway, you will be seeing many more layouts from this gorgeous kit. And if you like what you see, I would recommend becoming a subscriber of Scrapbook Circle so you don't miss out on another kit like this!
