Simple Stories So Fancy and So Rad

Hi Simple Stories fans! Rebecca Keppel here today to share a couple of projects I made with the latest lines - So Fancy and So Rad. Although they are technically a girl and boy line respectively, they are pretty versatile for lots of themes. But lucky me - I conveniently have a girl AND a boy! Here is a layout I made with So Fancy:
This layout combines several of my loves of Simple Stories collections. First fabulous patterned paper designs and colors. I highlighted that by die cutting a pie chart so I could feature several different patterns without overwhelming my photos. I also love how the patterned paper looks so good with machine stitching (one of my favorite techniques).
And how about the chipboard stickers? LOVE them! Perfect amount of dimension and I am loving the foiled elements too.
I also love the new Bradz. The fact that they don't have traditional brad wings that require you to poke a hole through your project makes me very happy indeed!
I went for a much simpler look for the So Rad layout:
So Rad has such a cool mix of elements like text paper with paint splatters and fabulous boy colors. I especially love the #Dude chipboard sticker.
I am also loving the new SN@P 4x6 Binders! I couldn't resist making each kid an album of their own featuring these fabulous collections. How about a little sneak peek of the covers? My daughter's So Fancy album:
And my son's So Rad album:
My plan is to fill these with favorite photos from each year. What are you doing with the So Fancy and So Rad collections?

Scrapbook Circle -- Watercolor Your Stickers

Watercolor is still such a hot trend and fun to add to any plain stickers.

rk sc june5
All you need are some plain cardstock stickers and a few Clean Color brush markers  from Kuretake and a water brush or a regular paint brush with a cup of water.

First, I added some color to the Jillibean Soup cardstock stickers from June's Kit. Next I took a waterbrush and pulled the bit of color I had added to the remainder of the sticker.

This is a quick and easy way to add the watercolor look to any plain stickers! You can see I colored the star and label with 4 flights here:

Scrapbook Circle June Mood Board

The June Scrapbook Circle Kit, Have a Little Fun, is filled with travel-themed items and beautiful summer hues. This month Mood Board perfectly reflects both:

I am always in love with the products in the Mood Boards. So my first glance is always, what do I want out of this Mood Board lol! The necklace, the luggage, the sandals, the globe, the California sign. Well actually I usually want it ALL! So my next look is always trying to match kit items up with the different elements. I pull several options out and then get to work. Here is my layout:rk sc june3
I created a watercolor background in mint to reflect the dominant color choice of the Mood Board elements. I used Gelatos and Heidi Swapp mint Color Shine mist to create the background. First, I colored big, thick strokes with Gelatos.

Next I used a brush drenched with water and turned the Gelatos into a watercolor

Lastly. I spritzed with the mint Heidi Swapp mist. Then I die cut the stars using a Cut Shoppe cut file called Counting Stars. I used Tim Holtz blender and Hero Arts Ombre Ink to color the stars.

Starting with the lightest color on the Hero Arts ink pad I inked the stars and then as I moved towards the middle of the stars, I picked up the middle color with the blender and finally finished the bottom with the darkest color.

I used the vellum with foiled airplanes to mimic the airplane and cloud graphic. Since the letters of the California sign are vertical I wrote out the word love the same way with Thickers. The silver foil is reminiscent of the silver trim on the luggage.

The globe die cut was perfect for the globe element. All of the travel pieces in the kit like this cork word were perfect for this month's mood board. And the map paper brought to mind the necklace.

If you love the June Mood Board as much as I did and want to create with it, please share on Scrapbook Circle's Facebook page. We would love to see!

Therm O Web Hot Melt and iCraft Deco Foils

Adding foiling to paper crafts is a breeze with Therm O Web's Deco Foils Hot Melt Adhesive.

The Hot Melt can be cut with a punch, electronic or manual die cut machine. I used my manual die cut machine to cut all of these shapes and words out of Hot Melt. Place the Hot Melt with the bumpy side down onto your project. Cut a piece of foil large enough to cover all the Hot Melt and place it on top of the Hot Melt with the foil color side up or facing you.  Then run through a laminator. I let mine heat up for about 20 minutes (a bit longer than it takes for the green ready light to go on, but worth it for good coverage).

For the card above I used a carrier sheet. I folded a piece of copy paper in half and inserted the card with the Hot Melt and Foil in between. For this card I did not use a carrier sheet. You have to be more careful that the Foil doesn't rumple, but I think the coverage is best and most even without the carrier sheet.

I love that Hot Melt can be used for fabric AND paper crafts and plan on using it to foil LOTS more projects in the future!

Scrapbook Circle & Cut Shoppe Blog Hop

This week we are teaming up with The Cut Shoppe to bring you loads of inspiration using our June Have a Little Fun Kit plus our favorite cut files from The Cut Shoppe.

My favorite cut files are usually backgrounds. I love to cut them out in white cardstock and back them with fun patterned paper and fill in some of the shapes with other photos, other patterned paper or embellishments. I used the Cut Shoppe's Geo to Go cut file to cut this fun background.
I also used a word file from Words to Live By. Since I cut it out of the Bella Blvd gray striped paper, it was getting lost in my page. So I off set the file in the Silhouette software and cut the offset shape in bright blue cardstock to make the title stand out.
I loved working with the Cut Shoppe files. They are so fun and on trend. You will definitely see me using them a lot in the future.

Now it is time to hop along with our Scrapbook Circle team and comment as you go. We will be selecting a winner from all of the blog hop comments to receive $20 to The Cut Shoppe Hop. Be sure to stop by The Cut Shoppe blog and hop along to see what their team created with our June kit. Comment on The Cut Shoppe hop and you are entered to win one of our June Kits!
Hope you find loads on inspiration are you blog hop here at Scrapbook Circle and then over at The Cut Shoppe too!

Simple Stories NEW Summer Vibes & My Favorite things Swap

Hi Simple Stories fans! Rebecca Keppel here today and I am SO excited to be here showing off the BRAND NEW Summer Vibes collection paired with the fabulous stamps and dies from My Favorite Things!
This layout is chock full of goodies from the Summer Vibes collection and My Favorite Things! I started by stamping a bunch of ice cream cones and toppers from the My Favorite Things You're the Sweetest Thing stamp set and cutting them out with the Sweet Treats die set.
I also stamped a few sentiments from the same stamp set onto the Summer Vibes washi paper tape.
I love the way they combine for a fun, whimsical look!
I also used Summer Vibes to make a fun card. This time I paired the collection with the Donuts and Sprinkles stamp set and the Donuts die set.
Last, but not least, I created a fun shaker birthday card. To make the shaker window, I cut one of the Summer Vibes transparencies (that come in the collection kit) into a 4x4 square using the My Favorite Things Square STAX dies.
I die cut a window from the card front, stitched the transparancy on the square that was cut out from the window on three sides, inserted sequins and a flower die cut from the Summer Vibes collection and sewed up the remaining side.
I loved combining My Favorite Things products and Simple Stories Summer Vibes collection. They were made for each other!
