Simple Stories Daily Grind

Hi Simple Stories Fans! Happy New Year! Rebecca Keppel here wishing you a wonderful start to 2014. Today, I want to talk more about the Daily Grind collection.
The great thing about Daily Grind is that it is super versatile, colorful and fun--anything but a grind! While many people are finishing up their December Daily albums, I actually still had my November 30 Days of Thankful Album (from this POST) sitting on my table and decided to finish that first using the fabulous Daily Grind Collection. Just a reminder here was the cover:
Rk ss 30 days 8
I added a die cut SN@P Daily Grind insert as the inside page with some stickers to mark the month and year.
Rk ss 30 days 9
I had already completed about a weeks worth of pages, so just had to finish the rest. LOTS of photos ahead!
Rk ss 30 days 10
I love the Pockets for memorabilia, but I hadnt really collected anything this month, so I just used it to layer multiple pictures.
Rk ss 30 days 11
This was an album documenting 30 days of being thankful, but it was also made to document a period in our lives, so even tough times are represented.Rk ss 30 days 12
I love mixing in the die cut page inserts.
Rk ss 30 days 13
When it is called for, mixing in bits of pieces from Simple Stories SN@P lines or even Smarty Pants (for progress reports day) is fun too.Rk ss 30 days 14
I like to trim down the 2x12 border strips to slip in the side pockets of these pocket pages.Rk ss 30 days 15
Using a mix of pocket pages and page inserts creates a fun, layered effect.Rk ss 30 days 16
The back of this page insert was fun on it's own so I didnt add anything to it!Rk ss 30 days 17Several times I cut down the SN@P cuts from 4x6 to 4x4 size to fit into the 4x4 pocket pages.
Rk ss 30 days 18
They also look great layered directly on a page or layout. I love the dark woodgrain in the Daily Grind collection and journaling on it with a white gel pen.Rk ss 30 days 19
Rk ss 30 days 20
Rk ss 30 days 21
I like to mix handwritten and type written journaling too.Rk ss 30 days 22
As an Instangram lover, I am so excited that Simple Stories makes pocket pages with 4x4 pockets and now some of the cut aparts from the patterned paper are in the 4x4 size too, like this People We Love card.Rk ss 30 days 23
The patterned paper on the right hand page is my absolute favorite in the line :)Rk ss 30 days 24
These speech bubbles were perfect for yummy food words to go along with my photos.Rk ss 30 days 25
Mixing sizes of photos from 3x4 to 4x4 and even 3x5 (layered on 4x6 patterned paper mattes) makes a dynamic mini album.Rk ss 30 days 26
Layering chipboard, stickers, cards and patterned paper is fun too!
Rk ss 30 days 27
With all the fantastic elements of Daily Grind and Simple Stories SN@P, I was able to complete this many photo, multi journaled mini album documenting an enite month, in just one afternoon!Rk ss 30 days 28jpg

Scrapbook Circle....circles!!

First, I need to announce the winner of the Scrapbook Circle Kit that was chosen from my blog.
Anelsie
from Rebecca’s blog, time-stamped December 2nd, 5:50 p.m.
Anelsie, please check out this blog post at the Scrapbook Circle blog to claim your kit!

Have you seen all the circles in the Scrapbook Circle December kit All is Bright and Add On Holly Jolly? There are giant circle rhinestones from Glitz Design, stickers from Studio Calico, Fancy Pants buttons, Elle's Studio patterned paper and exclusive Scrapbook Circle cuts. All the circles reminded me of Christmas decorations so I layered a bunch for a merry layout.

My favorite circle is the Scrapbook Circle exclusive cut that I cut out of kraft cardstock and layered over the glitter cardstock. Over that I punched out a circle from the Elle's Studio patterned paper and layered a chipboard button over that. I also love that a Glitz Rhinestone fits right on top of the Fancy Pants button! Circles are so much fun to layer!

Do you like to design with circles? Which circle type is your favorite?

Scrapbok Circle All is Bright Blog Hop

Wow, when I take a break, I REALLY take a break! But I am back with a phenomenal post that includes a  huge chance to win an awesome prize!!

The creative team at Scrapbook Circle is ending the year with a bang! We are hopping along and you can win an All Is Bright December kit from Scrapbook Circle. Each Creative Team member is giving away a kit on their blog. That's right — 12 chances to win! We are celebrating the holiday season and YOU get the gifts!

You should have come to my blog from the fabulous blog of Jenni Calma. You can also start at the Scrapbook Circle blog. And you can stop back by there to see the full hop list and get some more details.

The transparency was my FAVORITE item in the kit and I knew my first layout was going to feature it.

I generally struggle with transparencies. But this one was so easy to use with it's simple but fabulous star pattern. I simply layered it over green cardstock from the December Cardstock Add On and hid adhesive behind the photos. After adhering some of the red glitter trim, I decided to stitch a border around the top edge. I had fun layering the Fancy Pants chipboard stars UNDER the transparancy.
I used the exclusive Scrapbook Circle stamp and Staz On ink so it wouldnt smear and stamped on the transparency. Just that in and of itself was enough to stress me out ;) but I like the way it turned out.

I've already made 4 layouts and a card with the All is Bright Kit and Holly Jolly add on and I am looking forward to making more!

Your next stop on the hop is the incredible Tessa Buys, so run over to her blog right now! Keep hopping and leaving comments as you go, so you have up to 12 chances to win the December kit from Scrapbook Circle. Good Luck!
